TEF Chozen Few ft. Alexander Simone - "Love Hurts"
A Tubi Original that actually has a budget, a message, and a soul.
The Breakdown
Let's keep it a whole bean: I usually tear apart these "storyline" music videos because 99% of rappers can't act, and their directors just shoot them pointing guns at a camera in a rented Airbnb. But they opened this up with “A Secret Society Motion Picture” and gave Nimi Hendrix the director credit right out the gate. That tells me they treated this like an actual film.
We get this support-group framing device with women sitting in a circle in a gymnasium, sharing their trauma. Then we cut to the actual vignettes. I’m going to be a hater for a split second: the dude walking into the living room in that massive, oversized fur coat handing out dirty money to the kids and his girl is doing the absolute most. And the kitchen fight scene where she catches him slipping on the phone definitely gave me "3 AM Tubi Drama" vibes for a minute.
But the payoff? It hits. The visual of the revolver, the emotional weight of the betrayal, the red and white roses on the gymnasium floor—it actually means something. Having Heatmakerz on the production gives it that classic, soulful, gritty rap feel, and Alexander Simone brings the pain on the feature. You can just tell the independent crew who put this together bled for this project.
- Track Rating (9/10): We are so starved for actual storytelling in hip-hop right now. Tef is actually talking about trauma, betrayal, and the real cost of toxic love. It’s heavy, it's authentic, and the pocket he catches on the Heatmakerz beat is insane.
- Visuals Rating (9.5/10): It completely washes the generic, soulless visuals dropping this week. Nobody writes scripts anymore, but this team delivered an actual short film with real lighting, grading, and direction.
